The Spirit of Motown: A Charlton Singleton Performance

September 6, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm UTC+0

$20 – $30

The Lowcountry Freedom Reigns Festival is proud to present an evening of soulful music and reflection as we recognize the impact that the Motown movement had on our fight for freedom and how music brought us together. Join fellow tri-county neighbors and visitors at the Charleston Music Hall as musician, producer and conductor, Charlton Singleton and Friends featuring Quiana Parler will fill the music hall with the sounds of Motown. In the 1960s, musicians and performers such as Smokey Robinson, The Supremes and Stevie Wonder were not only making music, they were making history. Charlton’s musical talents will remind the audience of the bridges that Motown music crossed and the racial problems and barriers that it broke down. Come and sing along with this extraordinary band as they present some of the most recognizable and memorable Motown hits.

Opening remarks by Michael Moore, Executive Director of International African-American Museum and John Simpkins, Professor of Law, Duke University.

Doors open at 6:00 p.m. / Show starts at 7:00 p.m.
