Wine, beer, live music and food trucks at the James Island plantation

Charleston County Parks is proud to introduce a new evening event at beautiful McLeod Plantation Historic Site! Hops and Vines debuts April 13.

The new special event will feature live music, beer, wine and a food truck, in the gorgeous setting of this historic site. Interpreters will also be at the event to illustrate the storied history of McLeod Plantation. Hops and Vines takes place from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, and the event will return on May 11.

Admission is $15 in advance, or $20 on site and includes two drink tickets. Ages 21 and under are free of charge. Additional drink tickets and food truck fare will be an additional fee. Space is limited, so advance registration is recommended. Dogs will not be permitted at Hops and Vines. The main house will not be open for touring during the event.

Located on James Island and owned and operated by the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission (CCPRC), McLeod Plantation Historic Site is a former sea island cotton plantation that has borne witness to some of the most significant periods of Charleston history. Established in 1851, McLeod Plantation is an important 37-acre Gullah/Geechee heritage site that has been carefully preserved in recognition of its cultural and historical significance. The grounds include a riverside outdoor pavilion, a sweeping oak allée, and the McLeod Oak, which is thought to be more than 600 years old. The site’s buildings include homes that make up Transition Row, where enslaved families and their free descendants lived during the 19th and 20th centuries. McLeod Plantation Historic Site is open for regular visitation every Tuesday through Sunday.
