The focus of this lecture by Steve Johnson, Associate Professor of Drawing at the College of Charleston, is a body of work that was made during a nine month Fulbright-Nehru teaching fellowship in India.

The small watercolors are a response to living and teaching in India, a country of relentless movement and saturated colors. While there, his eyes often fixed upon the small trucks and auto rickshaws racing around him during daily work commutes, inspiring many of the watercolors in this body of work. The travel photographs offer a sampling of the many sights and experiences that continue to enrich his studio practice.
