The Taylor Festival Choir (TFC) will present a concert entitled Liturgical Elegance at 3pm, April 29 at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Charleston, and at 7:00pm on April 28 at St. John’s Church, Savannah. The concert will feature a performance of Herbert Howell’s beloved Requiem Mass, Henryk Gorecki’s Totus Tuus, and motets by John Sheppard, Jacob Handl, Ko Matsushita, and Einojuhani Rautavaara. The Howell’s Requiem and Gorecki’s Totus Tuus stand as two of the 20^th century’s greatest masterworks for unaccompanied choir. Recently chosen to perform a feature concert and the prestigious Raymond W. Brock commissioned work at the 12-state American Choral Directors Association Southern Division conference in Louisville, KY, the Taylor Festival Choir is a professional choral ensemble whose roster stems from professional singers in the Lowcountry and throughout the US. It has performed throughout North America, Ireland and the UK. Their fourth commercial CD will be recorded this summer for release on the Delos label.
