THREE TALL WOMEN earned Edward Albee a Pulitzer and three Best Play awards for 1994. It is a ‘masterwork’ of modern theater: As an imperious, acerbic, old woman lies dying, she is tended to by two other women, and visited by a young man. Albee’s unapologetic dialogue about everything from incontinence to infidelity…and beyond…leaves us breathless with disbelief, shock and hilarity. While The Three Women are separate characters, Albee brilliantly depicts the evolutionary stages of a woman’s life (The Maiden, The Mother, and The Crone), wherein we experience The EveryWoman, who lays bare the truths of our lives — how we live, how we love, how we die, and if we overcome.
