Rather than trying to identify what genre of music they’re playing, it might just be best to sit back and enjoy what Caja de Cuerdas are laying down. Anchored by classical guitarist Gregory Guay and Venezuelan-American producer, percussionist, and singer Hector Salazar, the band, whose name translates to “Box of Strings,” slides between jazz, folk, and rock so fluidly that one can be fooled by how easy the transitions sound. Guay’s delicate but lightning-fast playing is downright seductive when set against Salazar polyrhythmic percussion. These guys are stealthy as hell. The music is so pleasant that it can seem like they’re not breaking a sweat; but there’s some serious musicianship going on here.

En lugar de intentar identificar qué género de música están tocando, podría ser mejor sentarse y disfrutar de lo que está trayendo Caja de Cuerdas. Anclado por el guitarrista clásico Gregory Guay y productor Venezolano-Americano, percusionista, y cantante Héctor Salazar. La banda se desliza entre jazz, folk y rock tan fluida que uno se puede engañar por lo fácil que suenan las transiciones. Con la delicada pero rápida manera de tocar de Guay, es realmente seductor cuando se enfrenta a la percusión polirrítmica de Salazar. Estos tipos son super sigilosos. La música es tan agradable que puede parecer que no están rompiendo ni una gota de sudor, pero se nota que hay una buena maestría musical que está ocurriendo aquí.
