Presented by Very Hypnotic Soul Band and Charleston Sticks Together.

“Rainbow Rowed” highlights the juxtaposition between how Charleston is marketed on the global stage versus how it’s viewed by citizens who call the Holy City home. We will combine hip-hop beats and passionate poets to give the audience a grassroots depiction of what the cameras don’t show when they cover Charleston.

The set will be comprised of a podium, two tables, and chairs. At the podium, a moderator will speak on a “point of interest” (described below), and give the floor to an expert in that field. The expert, instead of speaking with rose tinted glasses, will instead speak about the realities of the topic. Each expert will be paired with a poet, so that the artist can craft an original piece based on the problems identified by the expert. That original piece will be performed at the show.
