THE TRAGEDY THAT INSPIRED A RAINBOW OF HOPE
Based on the true and horrendous murder of gay student Matthew Shepard in Laramie, WY, this shows draws from hundreds of interviews conducted by the members of Tectonic Theatre Project in reaction to the 1998 hate crime. Short scenes bring together more than 60 characters to portray the seemingly average town seeded with unmeasurable hatred and shocking heights of compassion. Bringing to light the lack of hate crime laws, Matthew Shepard sparked public discussion on sexual discrimination and violence worldwide.
