CHS HORT SUMMER FILM FESTIVAL
Charleston Horticultural Society, in partnership with the Queen Street Playhouse, is thrilled to announce our very first film series event, the CHS Hort Summer Film Festival weekend on Saturday July 17 and Sunday July 18, 2021. Our commitment to promoting garden excellence and education now includes sharing and celebrating the art of filmmaking and its interpretation and representation of gardening throughout the world.
Our first weekend of films will include showings of cherished, award-winning documentaries including The Gardener featuring celebrated influential gardener and plantsman Frank Cabot, the meditative garden experience of Portrait of a Garden, the immersive exploration of Five Seasons: The Gardens of Piet Oudolf, and the closer to home world of The Well Placed Weed: The Bountiful Life of Ryan Gainey. We will also feature a free family event with the showing of the 1993 classic film The Secret Garden. The weekend kicks off with a free Lowcountry Garden Expert Panel described below.
