The 6th Annual Charleston Jazz Festival presents performances by a wide variety of talented jazz artists. From legends of jazz to emerging artists, to Charleston’s most celebrated home-grown talent, artists of the Charleston Jazz Festival will perform in a wide range of styles including swing, salsa, blues, Brazilian, the American songbook and more.
Offramp kicks off Local Band Day, the festival’s opening event. They are an exciting new group that plays an eclectic assortment from guitar visionary Pat Metheny, but with their own flare. Selections from different eras and bands of Pat’s career will be explored with an emphasis on groove, melody, and interaction.
Local Band Day continues with Cameron & The Saltwater Brass, a horn-heavy group that blends a helping of funk, a cup of jazz, and a dash of gospel. A sousaphone lays down the bass lines and brings that unique ‘New Orleans’ sound to the party. Cameron and company are Charleston favorites and have been serving up their sounds locally for more than 7 years.
Finally, The Lee Barbour Quartet will showcase their unique explorations and technical mastery to close out the Charleston Jazz Festival’s Local Band Day. Lee is a gifted guitarist and composer who has performed and recorded with several international artists, including Jazz is Phish, guitar legend Joe Beck, Fred Wesley (James Brown), Earl Klugh, Elise Testone (American Idol) and Cary Ann Hearst (Shovels and Rope). Joining Lee on this incredible evening will be Jonathan Lovett, Ron Wiltrout, and special guest Justin Stanton from jazz supergroup Snarky Puppy.
Please note that each of these three performances is separately ticketed.
