GULLAH CONTEMPORARY JAZZ Featuring the Demetrius Doctor Trio with Mark Sterbank

The Demetrius Doctor Trio consists of musicians that grew up in various Gullah/Geechee infused African-American churches in Charleston, SC. This group blends this experience with the structure of Jazz and Fusion to create a unique brew of the rhythms, feelings, and stories straight from their roots in the Lowcountry. Mark Sterbank is the Director of Jazz Studies and Saxophone at Charleston Southern University. He is a regular member of the Charleston Jazz Orchestra and has performed with Harry Connick Jr., René Marie, and Darius Rucker, among many others.
