“Baroque to Brazilian, New Music AND More”
Who else could this be but Susan Conant, popular local flutist and composer! In her own quirky way, Conant explores the gamut of flute, recorder and whistle playing from classical and early music through world music and jazz. The crazy quilt of projects for the evening’s program includes Vivaldi and Boismortier played on Baroque instruments; works of Brazilian composer Mario Seve for flute and guitar; and a collaboration with drummers from Music Battery Charleston. Performers will also include
Sadie deWall, violin/viola; Laura Ball, piano/voice and Tom Noren, guitar.
This concert is the opening of the season of Candlelight Concerts in the Unitarian Church sanctuary, Nov. 4, at 7:30. A reception will follow in Gage Hall to celebrate the concert and the gallery opening of the Art on Our Walls gallery featuring the work of Lucy Burton-Stephens. Proceeds from the concert will support the work of Music Battery Charleston, which helps North Charleston middle school students academically and as part of a drumline marching unit. Babysitting provided.
