CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Department of Music at the College of Charleston School of the Arts will continue its 2021-2022 CofC Concerts season with a performance of dramatic opera works and art songs. The concert, “Masterworks of Voice and Drama,” will feature Strauss’s “Four Last Songs” as well as the rarely performed Vaughan-Williams love duet (opera) titled “Hugh, the Drover,” in addition to works by Quilter, Schubert, Gounod and Verdi. Faculty member and acclaimed lyric soprano Saundra DeAthos-Meers will be joined on stage by international opera tenor Harold Meers; special guest Morris Robinson, who is a Metropolitan Opera star and current Grammy nominee (Best Choral Performance: Mahler: Symphony No. 8, ‘Symphony Of A Thousand’); and pianist Andrea Molina.
DETAILS: “Masterworks of Voice and Drama” will take place on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 7:30 p.m., at the Sottile Theatre (44 George St.) Tickets are $25 for adults; $15 for CofC faculty, staff, senior citizens, military/veterans; $10 for all students.
