Shakespeare is no stranger to mad kings and unfortunate tragedies but nothing comes close to Shakespeare’s first tragedy, Titus Andronicus. Thought to have been his attempt at a revenge
play, which were gaining popularity amongst his contemporaries in the 16th century, Shakespeare shocks audiences with blood and gore.

Set in the Flowertown Players’ studio space, Shakespeare’s horror story comes to life inches from the audience. Directed by veteran Shakespearean actor and director John Bryan, he
believes that “Titus Andronicus is a tale not of victory or glory, but of the corrosive and destructive effects of vengeance. It is a warning against jingoism and a reminder that we are but
a razor’s breadth from madness when we ask the Structure to guide our morals. The play is violent. The play is brutal. The play makes no apologies or excuses for this. It is important that
we understand this is our nature and thus can be understood and contained rather than ignored and allowed to fester until it erupts into the sort of action we see in the play.” As a lesser-known
