Charleston County Parks is bringing back a popular holiday event that debuted last year at the Mount Pleasant Pier – Shuckin’ on the Cooper! The event, held Saturday, January 12, offers guests the opportunity to enjoy oysters and beverages while viewing the Holiday Parade of Boats.

Shuckin’ on the Cooper will take place from 1 to 4 pm. Held at the end of the Mount Pleasant Pier, this family-friendly celebration provides a spectacular view of the City of Charleston’s Holiday Parade of Boats in the Charleston Harbor. The Mount Pleasant Pier stretches 1250 feet into the harbor at the foot of the Arthur Ravenel, Jr. Bridge, and is a prime location to see the boats from the shore that evening.

Buckets of oysters will be available for purchase on site during Shuckin’ on the Cooper. Admission is $8 in advance or $10 on site if available, but advance ticket purchase is recommended. Buckets of oysters, provided by Charleston Bay Gourmet, will be available for $10 each on site.

Live music will be provided throughout the evening by alternative folk songwriter Joshua Jarman. Treating the acoustic guitar like some forgotten limb, Joshua unveils percussive qualities of the instrument. Minor chords aided by the thumping heart of the acoustic guitar accompany Joshua’s impacting vocals. His music may be heard at JoshuaJarman.bandcamp.com.

Alcoholic beverages and Coke products will be available for purchase at the event location. Treats and snacks will also be for sale at the pier’s Riverwatch Cafe and Gift Shop, located on the other end of the Mount Pleasant Pier. Outside alcohol and coolers are prohibited. Food and beverage fees are not included in ticket price.
