Join the CSO as we celebrate the best of American classical music! Copland’s pioneering Third Symphony includes the famous Fanfare for the Common Man—a work that epitomizes the sound of America. In addition, CSO Timpanist Beth Albert takes center stage to perform Michael Daugherty’s timpani concerto, Raise the Roof. Although often overlooked, the timpani (kettle drum) is a vital instrument that acts as an orchestra’s musical heartbeat, and has the power to influence the cohesion of a piece perhaps more than any other instrument.
As a thank you for your service to our country, all active and retired military personnel will receive a 20% discount to this performance. Tickets must be purchased in person at the Gaillard Center Box Office or at the Charleston Symphony office. Military ID required.
