A Comic Riff On Shakespeare’s Lusty Love Life

Based on the acclaimed six time Oscar winning film, Shakespeare in Love tells the comedic story of a young playwright, named Will Shakespeare who is desperate—he’s out of ideas and has creditors banging at his door. He must turn out a new hit to clear his debts, but the only idea he’s come up with lately is a new play he calls “Romeo and Ethel the Pirate’s Daughter” but that doesn’t seem quite right. He needs an inspiration, and destiny sends him Viola, a stunning beauty who is as in love with the theatre as he is—so much so that in an age when no women are allowed to perform onstage she is willing to disguise herself as a man in order to audition. When Will and Viola meet at the audition, their fates collide and a torrid star-crossed love affair ensues, and Will is inspired to turn his failed pirate play into the immortal and romantic tragedy, Romeo and Juliet.
