Travel back 200 years to 1817 Charleston and listen to music from the bicentennial year of the Unitarian Church. On Friday, November 3 at 7:30 PM, Chamber Music Charleston with John Samuel Roper, flute; Sandra Nikolajevs, bassoon; Irina Pevsner, piano; will be joined by vocalist Sophia Zimmerman and historian, Nic Butler in the church’s beautiful sanctuary. As the first of three Candlelight Concerts which will commemorate the church’s bicentennial, this program features music typical of a Charleston salon in 1817. Works include The South Carolina Hymn, Moore’s Irish Melodies and chamber works by Handel and Haydn. The concert will be followed by a reception and art exhibit next door in Gage Hall.
Tickets available at the door. Babysitting is provided. Both buildings are accessible. Proceeds benefit music students in underserved schools.
