Actors’ Theatre of South Carolina and Chamber Music Charleston are bringing back the highly acclaimed and engaging Christmas memoir, “Dylan Thomas’ Christmas in Wales” to Circular Congregational Church for the holidays.
The dramatic and musical performance is based on famous Welsh poet Dylan Thomas’ 1955 beloved radio story A Child’s Christmas in Wales. It shares his experiences of an old fashioned Christmas, from snow ball fights and the delight of opening presents to singing carols in the village. It is a performance of humorous and poignant anecdotes of delights of long ago woven together with live classical music.
Broadway film and TV star, Clarence Felder, portrays the author accompanied by Chamber Music Charleston flutist Regina Helcher Yost, violinist Jenny Weiss and cellist Timothy O’Malley performing arrangements of traditional carols. This prose-poem adventure will be both familiar and yet charmingly “far away” to today’s audiences. Recommended for audiences 10 years and above.
