Speaker Series: Russell A. Berman A Fraying Alliance? Challenges to the Trans-Atlantic Partnership Between the US and Europe

October 26, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm UTC+0

chs-library-societyWednesday, October 26th 6:00 PM.

Join us as Russell A. Berman speaks about the alliance between the US and European partners. These partnerships have been a cornerstone of global security for nearly seventy years. Yet the alliance is under pressure, as populist anti-Americanism spreads and Russia tries to regain influence. The next US administration will face major challenges to strengthen traditional ties. Russell A. Berman, the Walter A. Haas Professor in the Humanities at Stanford University, is a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and a co-chair of the Working Group on Islamism and the International Order. Berman specializes in the study of German literary history and cultural politics. He is a member of both the Department of German Studies and the Department of Comparative Literature at Stanford. He has served in numerous administrative positions at Stanford and has published multiple books.
